Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in English literature. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Then, in 1992 she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She reported on a variety of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
